Preschool

Preschool at Kidzone helps children build reading skills, self-confidence and a love for learning. To meet the developmental needs of three, four and five year-olds, we offer programs based upon the latest research and best practices in child development and early education. Classrooms, playgrounds, gymnasium and libraries are designed to encourage safe exploration, allowing children to discover, have fun and learn. The entire program is designed to be engaging and fun, so children don't just learn, they love to learn.

What to Bring

We ask that families provide the following:

1. Pack your child’s lunch with an ice pack-please label with your child’s name and date.

2. Two complete weather appropriate changes of clothes.

3. Small blanket and/or any comfort items for your child.

4. Pack afternoon snack for your child-put in your child’s lunch box.

5. Bring white soled tennis shoes for Gym class on Fridays.

6. Outdoor wear- coats, jackets, mittens, shoes, and hats.

7. Family photo to put in family corner.

Language and Reading Readiness

Kidzone takes a comprehensive approach to reading readiness that includes letter recognition and phonics, by incorporating the Zoo-phonics program. We also enjoy many opportunities to experience stories, books, poems and songs.

Learning Centers

Every Kidzone preschool room is divided into clearly defined learning areas, each offering a wide range of interesting materials and activities at a child's eye level.

  1. A Language/Library Area filled with books and magazines.

  2. A Math/Manipulative Area with materials that encourage counting, grouping and sorting.

  3. A Creative Arts Area to explore their budding creativity.

  4. A Home living/Dramatic Play Area for role-playing and pretending.

  5. A Science Area for exploring basic concepts using simple materials, such as plants, magnets or small pets.

  6. A Computer center for software and technology training.

Preschool Curriculum

Kidzone uses Creative Curriculum for Preschool is one of the most widely used pre-K curricula in the nation. It’s comprehensive, research-based, research-proven, and it features exploration and discovery as a way of learning.

Research shows that a whole-child approach to education—one where children develop not only math and literacy skills but also social–emotional, physical, and cognitive skills—is developmentally appropriate and better prepares children for life well beyond their time in a classroom.

Conscious Discipline

Learning self-control is just a normal part of growing up, so Kidzone policy is never to embarrass or ridicule a child when they misbehave. Nor do we allow the use of corporal or physical punishment. Instead, we use positive tactics that strengthen self-esteem. Most situations can be handled by redirecting the child to another, more appropriate activity.

In our Preschool classroom we have introduced Conscious Discipline. Conscious Discipline is a proven, comprehensive approach that empowers you with skills that create a safe, connected, problem-solving environment for families.

Parental Involvement

Partnering with parents is essential for consistent, positive experiences at both home and school. Parents are aware of what is happening in the classroom through posting of daily schedules and weekly lesson plans. Kidzone will conduct parent and teacher conferences that will include written assessments of each child's developmental progress at least twice per year. Of course all of this supports an environment of open communication between parents and teachers.

Kidzone lead teachers complete Ages and Stages Assessments on all children attending full time twice per year. We also send out parent assessments to have families fill out at the beginning of the academic year. Children that will be attending Kindergarten the following fall or if a concern is is present parent and teacher conferences will be scheduled. See below for more information regarding assessments.
